Journal Your Way to Weight Loss

Posted on April 25th, 2005 by Patty Harder in Diet Logs, Exercise Tips, Weight Loss, Working Out

A news release on The Open Press discusses the use of a fitness journal to help motivate dieters to commit to and maintain a regular fitness routine.

“Using a fitness journal provides an organized plan to follow each day, with measurable goals and a plan for success. Motivation comes as you see your results and progress each day, explained fitness expert Christopher Watson.

“We need daily goals to work towards in an organized way. We need to see our own daily progress to stay motivated and to keep coming back to strive for something more, said Watson. “Goals must be measurable, and realistic. We need a specific plan for each workout, and we need some benchmark to strive for.

As with most press releases, there is a sales plug. This time, it’s for fitnessjournal.org, an online journaling service that provides tools for fitness success. If this is something you need to stay on track, the price is reasonable at $9.95 per month with discounts for quarterly and greater prepayment.

Not interested in a monthly subscription rate? You can always head to your neighborhood drugstore and pick up a personal journal for about $5. It can easily become a fitness journal simply by recording your short and long term goals, your daily activity and food intake, and your milestones.
